Ten Years Later
A man is thrown through a glass by a guy wearing an all black
outfit, who is running in the opposite direction. “Stop!” The securities shout
to the man as he jumps over the two men he had minutes before put into a sleep,
not sure if they were dead. He keeps running through the crowd of people,
heading for the exit door of the building. He looks up and sees more securities
at the exit already heading towards his direction. He changes course and bumps
into an innocent passerby taking his phone in the process.
“Just going to borrow this, thank you.” The man says as he
takes the Bluetooth device also with him and begins to run towards the
emergency door. He punches in a number into the phone and puts the Bluetooth
into his ear. It rings once and a voice comes over the line “Please state your
reason for calling.”
‘Confidential” the man responds as he pushes aside someone
trying to slow him down. The line goes silent for about a second and then
disconnects. A call comes through on the phone, the man picks up as he opens
the emergency door.
“Burner, listen up. The documents you sent to us are the ones
we have been looking for, the Jacks know the documents have been copied and
leaked to a source outside of their building. They narrowed it down to only
three people who used their IT facilities in the last one hour. The other two
have been captured and interrogated; it’s not them, which leaves only you.
Burner your cover has been exposed, you need to get out of there now. They know
who you are; the vehicle will be waiting for you at the agreed extraction
point. Burner, do you hear what I am saying?”
“Hold on.” The man
says as he has a security guard who is standing at the door of the car park in
a headlock. “Sleep, sleep, sleep.” The security guard falls limp in his hands.
The man lets the security fall to the ground and keeps running. “Yes as you
were saying.”
“Your escort will contact you once you are at the extraction
point.”
“You mean Becky will contact me.”
“Burner, you know we only use codenames once we are on
missions. It is Violet to you not Becky.”
“I don’t like codenames.”
The man jumps into the car which he brought to the building
and pushes the start button, the engine comes alive. “You are fifteen minutes
away from your extraction point. Your GPRS will guide you straight to it, get
there in time. Violet will be waiting for you with your tickets just follow her
and you should be home in no time. Burner, I need you to pay attention to the
last detail.”
“What is it?”
“Do not get caught.”
The man ends the call without offering a response, puts the
car in drive and takes off.

On a private plane headed to France, Violet pours a glass of
water for herself. “Do you want some water Burner?”
“Please Becky enough with the codenames, the mission is
over.”
“The mission is not over Jake, we still have to get home in
one piece. I do understand what you mean though. Do you want the water or not?”
“I do not want any water. What I want is to find out what
happened to the guy that was supposed to make sure I was not detected.” Jake
responds as he stares outside of the plane as he wonders where the guy went
wrong.
“He has not been in contact with me either. I am sure he has
a valid reason for just disappearing. The guy is a professional, relax, he is
alright. Focus on the positive which is you getting out of there before they
could close the doors on you.” Becky offers as she drinks her water.
Jake not looking impressed with Becky’s explanation shakes
his head “He almost got me killed.”
Becky is about to say something but her phone starts to ring
before the words could come out. She picks up and heads towards the restroom
leaving Jake to himself. A minute later she heads back with the phone in her
hands. “Am I on speaker?”
“Yes sir.”
“Burner there has been a new development. I.T has revealed
that the documents you sent to us are incomplete. A part of it is missing which
we believe is to be with the man who was supposed to help you remain
undetected. The man was the only one that had access to that information and
also knew what we were trying to do. Just a few minutes ago, our surveillance
picked him up in Britain. That is your next destination, you are headed there
now. Violet has been briefed, find this man and find out what he knows. Good
luck Burner.”
“Yes sir.” Jake responds in a serious tone
Becky ends the call and looks at Jake, “Now we know why he
has not been in contact, guess the mission is not over after all.”
“Guess not.”
Becky steps towards the front of the plane and speaks to the
captain. “Change of plans guys, we aren’t headed home anymore.”
The pilots look back and ask her “where to?”
Becky smiles “U.K.”
